Subject:
A tour de force on system design and development
I lived with this book in high school learning every lesson, nook, and cranny contained within. Now, looking back on my career in software and systems development, covering everything from 8 bit embedded systems for spacecraft to multi-peta-byte datacenters, I realize just how good this book was and still is. De Re Atari introduced me to parallel processing, human engineering, reliability and performance engineering.... the list goes on. While the technology referenced is dated, the fundamental concepts presented aren't. I consider myself lucky to have run across this at a young age, and to have been given an Atari 800 to cut my teeth on. People still underestimate what an investment in child can produce when measured over a lifetime.
